Some quick ideas for what could go here:

From on campus, even with the traffic shaper, you can connect to twofo using a program called stunnel.

Instructions: Download: http://manyhappy.members.beeb.net/stunnel.rar EXTRACT ALL FILES

Run: stunnel.exe Once the icon is in the tray.

Set DC++ via "quick connect" to localhost:9000

PLEASE NOTE: If you download STUNNEL yourself you have a different "config file" in order to get STUNNEL to connect to DC++ please switch the config file with the following information. (Not recommended) (save as stunnel.conf and place in STUNNEL directory and restart STUNNEL.

Some options used here may not be adequate for your particular configuration
Certificate/key is needed in server mode and optional in client mode
The default certificate is provided only for testing and should not
be used in a production environment

cert = stunnel.pem

key = stunnel.pem
Some performance tunings

socket = l:TCP_NODELAY=1 socket = r:TCP_NODELAY=1

Workaround for Eudora bug
options = DONT_INSERT_EMPTY_FRAGMENTS
Authentication stuff
verify = 2
Don't forget to c_rehash CApath
CApath = certs
It's often easier to use CAfile
CAfile = certs.pem
Don't forget to c_rehash CRLpath
CRLpath = crls
Alternatively you can use CRLfile
CRLfile = crls.pem

Some debugging stuff useful for troubleshooting
debug = 7
output = stunnel.log
Use it for client mode

client = yes

[twofo] connect = twofo.kicks-ass.net:4146 accept = 127.0.0.1:9000

Service-level configuration
[pop3s]
accept = 995
connect = 110
[imaps]
accept = 993
connect = 143
[ssmtp]
accept = 465
connect = 25

 I have put together a rar file with all the necessary files need for this, which can be downloaded from http://manyhappy.members.beeb.net/stunnel.rar Just extract the files. Then run the stunnel.exe. Once the icon is in the tray, just set DC++ to connect to localhost:9000 and it takes you straight onto twofo.

This has worked fine with the people who have tested it so far. You can of course download stunnel yourself from http://www.stunnel.org/ , but you would have to configure it yourself to connect to twofo.kicks-ass.net:4146

YOU WILL HAVE TO BE IN ACTIVE MODE (on the latest versions of DC++, this is called "Direct Connection") AND HAVE THE CORRECT IP IN DC++ IN ORDER TO SEARCH AND DOWNLOAD. You can find your IP at http://checkip.dyndns.org/ You should not be using the socks5 address boxes in any way. Many people have been finding that they cannot download due the the presence of a firewall, often the Windows firewall, blocking DC++. There is a guide to allowing DC in the windows firewall int he help section of this wiki. For other firewalls, I suggest you consilt the help guides that come with them or google for the answers.

"Just briefly, I myself used DC++ and Bittorrent excessively at the beginning of this term, and my internet was disconnected. Tried various network cables, other people's machines etc, I was pretty sure I was banned. So, being cowardly as I am, I just ignored it, connected to a wireless network someone had in the flat, and went on with my life. After a month I finally rang up, and they said I wasn't on their list. They send a guy round to have a look, he sorts it out, my internet's back and I haven't been fined. Upon enquiry the guy just said it was probably caused by a ban, but there's no record of it on the system now, so just be careful. So whilst I can't confirm that I was banned and would have been fined, I just figured I'd contribute. Move this wherever or delete if you like." - RockLoi.

Feel free to edit these pages (including this one!). if you muck things up, we can always revert back to the previous version. This is a MediaWiki, so look this up for information on how to do funky stuff with the text and graphics.
